
About the Role
We are seeking a results-driven HVAC Controls Project Manager to lead Building Automation System (BAS) projects throughout the Portland metro area. This role owns projects from kickoff through closeout — ensuring financial performance, technical execution, and exceptional client satisfaction.
You’ll work at the intersection of engineering, field operations, and customer relationships — managing DDC construction projects while keeping budgets tight, schedules on track, and systems performing exactly as designed.

What You’ll Do
Project & Financial Management
Review and validate sales handoff packages (scope, hardware, estimates)
Develop and manage project budgets, labor forecasts, and cost tracking
Maintain profitability and proactively manage risk
Track RFIs and change orders; coordinate proposals with Account Managers
Support estimating on complex or negotiated projects
Technical Oversight
Lead coordination with engineering on submittals, programming, graphics, and sequences of operation
Oversee database downloads, point-to-point checkout, and system startup
Manage functional testing and commissioning coordination
Ensure complete and accurate as-built documentation
Field & Trade Coordination
Coordinate in-house installers and subcontractors
Attend construction and coordination meetings
Work closely with General Contractors, Owners, Engineers, and Commissioning Agents
Ensure compliance with safety and jobsite requirements
Assist with startup or troubleshooting when needed
Customer & Internal Communication
Serve as primary project contact
Provide regular project status updates
Facilitate smooth turnover to the service department
Qualifications
Required Experience
5+ years of experience in HVAC, Electrical, or Building Automation
3+ years of project management experience in construction or controls
Direct Digital Controls (DDC) experience required
Automated Logic (ALC) experience preferred
Technical Knowledge
Strong understanding of HVAC mechanical systems
Familiarity with BAS networking and integration
Ability to read and interpret plans and specifications
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word)
