HVAC Controls Account Manager (Asheville)

Harris is seeking a driven, strategic Account Manager to expand and strengthen our Building Automation and HVAC Controls portfolio. This role is responsible for growing revenue within assigned accounts while developing new customer relationships across targeted vertical markets.

You’ll operate as a consultative advisor — helping customers improve energy efficiency, operational performance, and system reliability through smart BAS solutions. This position blends business development, account management, and technical fluency.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Account Growth & Business Development

  • Manage and grow a portfolio of key accounts within assigned territory
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities through prospecting, networking, and industry engagement
  • Develop and execute territory and account growth strategies
  • Generate consistent pricing activity (proposals, budgets, bids, change orders) aligned with revenue targets
  • Position Harris as the preferred BAS partner for energy efficiency and smart building solutions

Relationship Management

  • Build strong relationships with facility leaders, consulting engineers, mechanical contractors, and general contractors
  • Conduct structured account touchpoints based on account value and opportunity
  • Maintain trusted advisor status with decision-makers and influencers
  • Conduct post-installation follow-up to ensure satisfaction and identify future opportunities

Sales Execution & Collaboration

  • Lead consultative sales discussions and negotiate agreements
  • Partner with Estimating and Engineering to develop accurate proposals and scopes
  • Collaborate with Project Management during execution to maintain customer confidence
  • Utilize CRM tools (BidTracer or similar) to track pipeline, forecast revenue, and maintain documentation
  • Work with Marketing on targeted campaigns and territory positioning

Industry & Technical Leadership

  • Maintain working knowledge of BAS/DDC systems, HVAC applications, and integration technologies
  • Stay informed on energy standards, sustainability trends, and smart building advancements
  • Present Harris solutions clearly at varying technical levels

Required Skills & Competencies

  • Proven success in BAS, DDC, or HVAC Controls sales
  • Strong understanding of building automation systems and control theory
  • Strategic thinking with the ability to execute measurable growth plans
  • Strong negotiation and presentation skills
  • High financial awareness — ability to solve business problems through technical solutions
  • Ability to manage multiple opportunities while maintaining strong client relationships
  • CRM proficiency (BidTracer preferred)

Qualifications

  • 3–7+ years of experience in BAS, DDC, or HVAC Controls sales or account management
  • Working knowledge of Automated Logic and/or Honeywell systems preferred
  • Mechanical or Electrical Engineering background is a plus (not required)
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
