As a Controls Technician, you’ll assist with the startup, commissioning, and maintenance of customer systems that utilize PLC technology. Collaborating with our engineering team, you’ll ensure documentation is spot-on, systems are precisely calibrated, and expert technical support is always within reach for both you and our valued customers.
Stepping into the Role: Core Responsibilities for Success
· Participate in the startup, commissioning, and re-commissioning of customer systems.
· Participate in the servicing of BAS.
· Maintain accurate As-Built drawings, providing a reliable reference for the engineering department.
· Calibrate systems using basic electronic test equipment to ensure optimal performance.
· Assist in the commissioning and testing of software programming, contributing to innovative solutions.
· Complete minor software or database programming tasks to fine-tune system performance.
· Perform minor wiring changes or adjustments as needed to support system functionality.
· Set up operator workstations/servers with required software, ensuring smooth operation and efficiency.
· Oversee job database backups and support the smooth transition of projects to the service department.
· Track and record job progress, providing essential updates to project personnel.
· Communicate issues or concerns to project management, ensuring smooth project delivery.
· Complete all necessary documentation—including time sheets, expense reports, and project status reports.
· Ensure all work complies with company safety policies, OSHA standards, and customer site requirements.
· Perform other duties as required to support successful project completion.
Technical Tools & Systems Knowledge
· Familiarity with BAS platforms such as Automated Logic (ALC), Johnson Controls, Siemens, Honeywell, or Tridium Niagara.
· Experience using ALC WebCTRL, SiteBuilder, Eikon, or Niagara Workbench preferred.
· Basic understanding of network configuration, IP addressing, and communication protocols (BACnet, LonWorks, Modbus).
What Makes You Stand Out: Qualifications Needed to Apply
· A valid Driver’s License, maintained consistently.
· Ability to meet company insurance carrier requirements for a clean driving record.
· Ability to comply with health and safety policies, demonstrated by passing a basic drug screening.
· Willingness to travel up to 50% of the work week, primarily local travel with occasional overnight stays.
· Capability to perform physical tasks, including climbing ladders, using lift equipment up to 8 feet, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
· Basic understanding of control logic, with a solid grasp of commercial and industrial mechanical systems.
· Existing knowledge of Direct Digital Control (DDC) theory and its applications in HVAC systems.
· Prior experience in HVAC and/or Building Automation preferred but not essential.
· Previous experience with Automated Logic Software or similar platforms is beneficial.
· Technical certification or coursework in HVAC, Electrical, Electronics, or BAS preferred (e.g., AAS in HVAC/Controls).
· OSHA 10 or equivalent safety training preferred.
· Factory training or certification in ALC, Siemens, or Tridium a plus.

Beyond the Basics: Additional Details You Should Know
· Frequently lift and/or move items up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

· Standard hours: Monday–Friday; occasional after-hours or weekend work may be required during startups or commissioning.
