
We are seeking an experienced Building Automation Systems (BAS) Controls Technician to support the startup, commissioning, service, and maintenance of commercial and industrial DDC systems. The ideal candidate has direct experience with BAS platforms, HVAC systems, commissioning, troubleshooting, and field integration. This position works closely with project managers, engineers, and customers to deliver high-quality automation solutions while maintaining safety, professionalism, and technical excellence.
Core Responsibilities
· Perform startup, commissioning, and re-commissioning of BAS/DDC systems.
· Troubleshoot and resolve BAS, HVAC controls, sensor, actuator, and network communication issues.
· Perform point-to-point checkout, calibration, and functional testing of control systems.
· Modify and troubleshoot BAS programming, graphics, databases, and control sequences.
· Maintain accurate as-built drawings and project documentation.
· Support integration of HVAC equipment, VFDs, meters, boilers, chillers, VRF systems, and third-party BACnet devices.
· Configure operator workstations, servers, and related BAS software platforms.
· Perform database backups and support project turnover to service and operations teams.
· Track project progress and communicate field issues to project management and engineering staff.
· Perform minor wiring changes and field adjustments as required.
· Complete daily reports, time sheets, expense reports, and project documentation.
· Ensure all work complies with company safety standards, OSHA requirements, and customer site policies.
· Support after-hours or weekend startup/commissioning activities when required.
Technical Experience & Preferred Platforms
· Experience with BAS platforms such as Automated Logic (ALC), Johnson Controls, Siemens, Honeywell, or Tridium Niagara.
· Experience using ALC WebCTRL, SiteBuilder, Eikon, or Niagara Workbench preferred.
· Working knowledge of BACnet, BACnet/IP, Modbus, LonWorks, and related communication protocols.
· Basic understanding of IP networking, routers, switches, and network configuration.
· Strong understanding of commercial and industrial HVAC systems and control logic.
Qualifications
· Valid Driver’s License with a driving record that meets company insurance requirements.
· Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening and comply with all company safety policies.
· Willingness to travel up to 50% of the work week, primarily local travel with occasional overnight stays.
· Ability to work in mechanical rooms, rooftops, ceilings, and active construction environments.
· Ability to climb ladders, use lift equipment, and lift up to 50 lbs.
· Previous experience in HVAC controls, DDC systems, or Building Automation Systems required.
· Technical certification or coursework in HVAC, Electrical, Electronics, or BAS preferred.
· OSHA 10 certification or equivalent safety training preferred.
· Factory certifications in Automated Logic, Siemens, Tridium, or similar platforms are a plus.
